Autism and Anxiety

During my years in education, I worked with many children with autism and additional needs. I have always loved working with these families to help find unique solutions to help them feel secure and heard in my class. This is what inspired me to specialise in autism and anxiety. I am incredibly proud to hold a Diploma for sleep consultants in Autism and Anxiety.

Up to 80% of children with autism struggle with sleep. Sleep deprivation and daily battles at bedtime can have a significant impact on the whole family. I have parents worrying it is down to something they have done “wrong” - I am here to tell you it is not.

Traditional sleep methods will have little or no effect on a child with additional needs and frequently autism and anxiety go hand in hand which can also make sleep very tricky. This is why working with a certified Sleep Coach with specialist knowledge in Autism and Anxiety is crucial to long term sleep success.

You are not alone…

When I work with my families, I tailor everything I do to ensure it matches the needs of your child. You are the expert on your child, I am there to listen, guide and support you as we work together to improve your child’s sleep.

Thinking this all sounds great but where do I start? Read on to find out some answers to common questions and to see what is included in my Autism and Anxiety Sleep Support Package.

Are there proven strategies for autism and better sleep?

The quick answer is - there is no one size fits all. When we work together, through my in depth questionnaire, sleep log and consultation we will create a sleep plan that is tailored to your child. I ensure we make a plan that includes small, achievable steps that we can implement over our time together. These steps will look different for every child and take a varying amount of time.

Autism itself does not cause lack of sleep but it can contribute to sleep issues occurring. Many children with autism may have irregular sleep patterns, high anxiety, difficulty with sensory processing or hyperactivity. All of these will make falling and staying asleep a challenge and must be taken into account when creating a sleep plan for your child.

Why should we choose you to help us with our child’s sleep?

When I was teaching and working with students with autism, I could see the impact the lack of sleep was having on them in all areas of their life. I felt powerless to help as I was not qualified in that area at the time. Now after completing intensive, specialist training that only a handful of people have, I am in the position to help those families in a way I never could before.

If you are looking for a sleep consultant that will listen to you, collaborate with you and guide you, you are in the right place. During our time together, I am with you every step of the way with daily support and once the 4 week daily support package has ended, you can still use your follow up calls up to 6 months after our initial consultation.

I know it can be an overwhelming process taking that first step so let’s chat. Book a free, no obligation, Discovery Call below and let’s talk about your unique child and how we can work together to get your child’s sleep on track.

Lauren was so kind and approachable with a gentle, understanding & positive nature. I’ve really learnt so much from her in considering sleep difficulties from an anxious child’s perspective. She did this so compassionately towards my sons needs, I felt supported at every step and will really miss our daily catch ups.
